Just across the beach is the island of Kato Fyra with behind it Epano Fyra, together called 'Diplo', meaning 'double', which may not block the northern summer winds, but at least the big waves that come with it. There is no shade and for once there are also no umbrellas and sunbeds. Swimming is great, so is the access into the water. When we were there early September a great number of the people at the beach were in their bathing-suits, so all is tolerated. The actual name goes back to the 1970's, to the times, when hippies had discovered Greece's beaches. In fact we saw a camping just before arriving there, to the west. On maps of Antiparos one will find no name for it and when I asked locals, they told me that they would just refer to it as the 'Beach by the Camping'. It is the well known 'Nudist Beach', as it even says on signs. There is quite a bit of vegetation, especially small trees of long-fruited junipers, which the Greeks call 'kedros'.Ībout halfway one will come upon a beautiful sandy beach with turquoise water. An activity, which my wife and me enjoyed on Antiparos was the walk out of the Chora around the northern end of the island through a quite unspoilt, not built up landscape.
